The first international event of the COVID-19 era

The Expo, one of the world’s three major events alongside the Olympics and the World Cup, is being held in Dubai, the “City of the Future” in the United Arab Emirates, from October 2021 to March 31 of this year. In fact, the Expo has a longer history than the Olympics or the World Cup and is an international event with a tremendous impact on human society and industry as a whole; it is the venue where companies and technologies leading the times, such as Mercedes-Benz, Otis Elevator, and Ice Cream, are first showcased to the world. Furthermore, it serves as a platform to share the culture and art of the current generation—including landmark architecture like the Eiffel Tower—and to discuss the agendas facing humanity.

Meanwhile, Dubai Expo 2020 holds great significance not only as the first to be held in the Middle East but also as the first international event to take place during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Expo, originally scheduled for 2020, had already been postponed once due to the pandemic. Having completed thorough preparations to make up for the delay, this Expo opened its doors to the world, bringing together people from 192 countries to build unique pavilions and showcase their respective cultures, arts, and cuisines, providing attractions and entertainment for both business and leisure travelers for six months.
